Itinerary

Day 1 : (Kafnu) Pickup from Shimla Old Bus Stand. Drive to Kafnu base camp

Osm Vacation will pick up the trekkers from the Shimla Old Bus Stand transport and leave for the Kafnu Base Camp early morning at around 6:00 to 7:00 am Getting to Kafnu is not as difficult even though it is a really remote village in the deep reaches of southern Himachal. The road to Kafnu has nerve wrecking roads and many hanging cliffs which gives an adrenaline rush. You will surpass the Hydel Project at Wangtoo.You will stay at Kafnu for the night, at one of the local lodges. It�s important to use the day to rest in preparation for the trek to mulling tomorrow.

Day 2 : (Mulling) Trek from Kafnu to Mulling

Today is the most beautiful day of Pin Bhaba Trek. You will go through a largely coniferous forest. The trek starts from Kafnu and hence there will be an altitude gain which is at 2,759feet (841m) from the village, walk for about 200 meters and you will spot India�s first underground dam, the �Bhaba Hydro Project. Continue to walk on the motorable route for 2.65 km. About 2 km into this trail, you will reach a bridge. Cross the bridge to reach the left bank of the Bhaba River. Shortly after crossing the bridge, you will notice a narrow route going up from the motorable route � take this trail. Continue to walk and the you will be welcomed by the pretty landscapes of blessed with pine, oak trees and alpine forests. Hear the chirping of the birds and confluence of beautiful trees. The terrain is full of mud, grass and small stones. There will be abundant trees after you trek the 6.8km this place is called �Champoria�, 9,491 feet. From this spot, you will need to cross the Bhaba River. Cross the river via the log bridge to reach the right bank of the Bhaba River. 10 km into the trek, you will reach a place called Jhandi top (10,640 feet). This is a good spot to catch your breath. From Jhandi top, the Mulling hut and campsite are visible. From here, it�s a short 1.3 km hike to reach the campsite.

Day 3 : ( Kara) Trek from Mulling to Kara

Today�s trek will be a gradual ascent walking through a rocky terrain. After about 1.6 km you will be welcomed by a beautiful meadow and waterfall. Enjoy the scenic beauty and wild flower around you. The landscape will surely take your breath away. After passing the meadow, continue to walk for another 1.2 km to reach the campsite near a water stream. You will find a lake within 200 meters from the campsite. The lake boasts of stunning reflections when it�s sunny. You can setup your campsite at Karah.

Day 4 : (Phustirang) Trek from Kara to Phustirang

Today will be the shortest day as you will be covering only 5 km. You will be the Bhaba River passing bythe mountain stream approaches from the left side of Phutsirang. Cross the stream and continue to climb the steep slope. The terrain is a loose mud and you will be lot of mountain streams 4.2 km into the trek, you will arrive at a campsite which has been a setup for lower Phutsirang. From this spot, continue the upward climb for another 700 meters and you will reach Phutsirang. Watch the beautiful campsites of Phustirang and the nearby mountains which are more than 16,000ft

Day 5 : (Phustirang) Acclimatization and rest day at Phustirang

Day 6 : (Pin Bhaba Pass) Phustirang to Mangrungse via Pin Bhaba Pass

Today will be the most exciting day as you will be crossing the pass which has steep slopes i.e. connecting Bhaba and Pin Valley. There is a sense of adventure and accomplishment because it is not going to be an easy one. Experience the thrill. This will give you a surprise as once you reach the top of the mountain because of the sudden shift .The geographical contradictions are well pronounced in this spot. You will be leaving behind the lush grasslands of Bhaba valley and move to the brown, desert mountain valleys of Pin. The Pin River can also be seen from this point. The descent is steep and it is tricky, since it�s a combination of moraine, glacier and scree. Negotiate this terrain slowly. Now about 2km you will be descending and find the Pin River. Remove your footwear to cross the river to get onto the right side of the river. From here on, it�s a gradual descent yet riddled with moraine and scree. Pace yourself slowly and rest if you must. About 5 kms from the river-crossing, you will be able to see the Mangrungse campsite below the trail.

Day 7 : (Mudh) Trek from Mangrungseto Mudh

Today is the last day and you will be trekking for hours i.e. 16km at a stretch to Mudh. Start as early as possible from your campsite. Climb the slope from Mangrungseto reach the trail and continue walking along the same. The distance between Mangrungseand Bara Boulder is 4 km and from the Bara Boulder campsite, there is a gradual section filled with moraine. It�s recommended that your water bottles are stocked up at Mangrungse. The tributary of the Pin River is just 300 meters from Bara Boulder. Cross this stream using the log bridge. The trail from Bara boulder is completely flat and is dominated by red soil and small red stones. Mudh village will be noticed and the landscape is more or less like postcards this sight will level up your adrenaline rush. The view of the suspension bridge dangling over the Pin River is a sight to behold. There will be a suspension bridge, cross the bridge and climb up to reach the village.

Day 8 : (Manali) Mudh to Manali

Today you will be bidding goodbye to the trekkers leaving some great memories. You can also explore Spiti if you wish to stay at Mudh. If not then drive to Manali and enjoy the scenic beauty.
